Aquilegia

Aquilegia 'William Guiness'. This is very floriferous and although the flowering period is quite short, it makes up for it with its lovely colour, shading from deep purple to delicate mauves, and almost white within the flower. The two not yet fully opened flowers to either side remind me of sleeping bats hanging with their wings furled. In mono that effect is more pronounced, and gives the image something of gothic feel (see the extra photo), but as with yesterday's blip, colour has prevailed this time.
