Lucky rooster

Today we received delivery of ten rescued hens from our friends at the Retreat Animal Rescue sanctuary. We put them in a low fenced area to acclimatise them before they go out into the bigger field.

Within minutes they had a visit from our gentle ginger and white cockeral. I think he is going to be a very happy rooster.

My extra is of Soft Cell sitting in the long grass recovering from a visit to the vets this morning . He had a sore mouth and it transpired that fur had been caught in his gum. Two injections and a pill, plus a big bill, and he couldn't wait to get back in the cat carrier. He seems very contented now and hopefully won't be suffering any longer.
