a lifetime burning

Weather for ducks

When you are working, there is just so much to like about weekends, even when you have your week's worth of chores to deal with.  There's still time to read the Saturday papers and discuss interesting or amusing articles with Cathy.  Time to bake bread and play the guitar.  Time for laundry and shopping, cooking and just be-ing.

I was thinking of popping into Bath to take some photos of the cycling - but it has been so very wet (nothwithstanding that the BBC's forecast said that there would be some showers at 11am and that the rest of the day would be dry*).  In the end I took some photos of Mister and Mrs Mallard in the ongoing rain, as they are once again with us.  I did (sort of accidentally) end up with some shots of them doing what comes naturally - interestingly Mrs Mallard seemed quite happy with the whole thing (which was much less brutal than it can be - i.e. her head was above water at all times) although she did spend the usual 20 minutes or so afterwards washing and preening herself.  However, I've spared you that shot, so instead, here she is in her finery, in the rain.

* Is it just me, or does the weather forecast on the BBC seem even less reliable now that they no longer buy in the services of the Met Office?
