Ford

I had coffee with an ex-colleague, this morning, at the rather nice Booths Café in Penrith. I had been looking forward to seeing him - and justifiably so, as it turned out - but I must admit I had also been anticipating the drive back to Kendal down the A6.

As it turned out, I managed to fumble my exit from Penrith and ended up on a completely different road, such that in the end I had to fall back on the satnav to get myself back. That diversion did however give me a chance to discover this little beauty spot at the side of the road. 

You can see the gate on the far side and judging by the lane on this side, you must be able to ford the river here. (I didn't try it, though).
