Yasheen

Here's Yasheen again, fast growing into a young man. As it's our last day here for a while, I sought him out around the Zamalek block here in Cairo where he sells flowers, either at a street corner or roving up and down lines of cars waiting at traffic lights just off 26th July Street. He ran across as always and I gave him the photos of him and his brother that I had taken at the start of this trip, eleven weeks ago. I also slipped him some money for the upcoming Ramadan celebration to help him and his family enjoy the festivities a little more fully. With inflation running at over 30% and many basic foodstuffs having nearly doubled in price, things are tight for the average Cairene. The aims of the revolution seem ever more distant from fulfilment but maybe in Yasheen's thumbs up gesture there is still a glimmer of hope.
