Surprise to See.. a Kōwhai Tree in Flower

After a damp gloomy morning this afternoon turned out lovely and sunny. I took a shot walk around the neighbourhood and came across this kōwhai tree in full flower. I thought they only flowered in Spring!

The kōwhai is one of the best known native trees in New Zealand and it’s our unofficial national flower. They are best known for their brilliant yellow flowers that appear in profusion in Spring and stand out among the forest greenery. Kōwhai imagery is popular in art works and has been used on postage stamps and coins. For more Info on the kōwhai.

I am no feeling so well this afternoon so hopefully I am not coming done with John's bug.
