Loch Blair

This is the burn which drains Loch Blair. This is a hill loch to the north of Loch Arkaig and is at about 1000 feet in altitude. The first couple of hundred yards of the burn run slow and deep and meanders through soft wet peat hags then it fairly cascades down the hill side as the terrain steepens.

The wee bridge has been installed to take foot or quad bike type traffic and its approaches either side are very wet and muddy. We had no machine assistance to get our kit up and it was pretty wet and unpleasant at times but not as bad as yesterday. (My phone based app told me I did 3000 ft of ascent yesterday, throw in some actual work on top of that and no one wonder the legs were weary.)

There are no sheep on this hill side so it would be a good place to take Bruce and Caley though I know fine other family members would find the muddy going unacceptable,
Loch Blair

Anyway it was a mostly wet day and I thought this looked like a wet photo; black clouds, bogland, loch, burn and you can just make out the rain on the water too. (L for enlarge to see better)
