Juvenile Robin

This young American Robin was hanging around the compost bin* outside our bathroom window. He was mostly too low for a good image, but he did hop up top very briefly for this one.  Adult robins are everywhere these days, but it is very unusual to see a juvenile. A bit prior prior to this he spent at least 45 seconds (by camera times--see the extra) lying flat beside the bin, with his wings spread--unique behavior, in my experience.

*The bin has provided many opportunities--here's a squirrel in nearly the same spot a year ago.
