Chelsea Pensioner

We spent the day at the Chelsea Flower Show.  It was very hot and very crowded, but nevertheless a very enjoyable day with splendid displays of flowers and plants, show gardens and floristry,

The show takes place in the grounds of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea - home of the iconic Chelsea Pensioners, who are all retired soldiers of the British Army. It was therefore no surprise to see a couple of them wandering around the show in their full uniforms.  It was a bit of a surprise that, given the wonderful flowers, plants, shrubs, bushes and trees on display, this one chose to sit on a stand promoting artificial grass.

There were lots of people wandering around with cameras, so I felt quite comfortable taking photographs.  It isn't easy at this sort of event to make creative, artistic photographs, but I did manage to record many of the sights we experienced.  I have uploaded many of the images from the day to a Flickr album.
