Not Tonight, Sweetheart!

Mrs. (on the left) is looking quite rumpled after Mr. had tried three times to land on her back, but she was having none of it.  As you can see some harsh words were exchanged between this Barn Swallow couple before Mr. gave up and flew off in a huff.

WRPerry and I had a wonderful morning at Huntley Meadows.  After 4 days of rain, the water in the wetlands was quite deep, almost reaching the boardwalk.  There were no geese around, as apparently all their nests were flooded, but there was still plenty of activity.   We saw the gorgeous Merganser family again, although the chicks are now down to 7 (from 9).  We also saw a female wood duck with at least 9-10 very tiny chicks following her around.  They stayed in among the reeds so it was very difficult to get a good clear shot.  It was just so good to be outdoors again.

Many thanks to all of you who have left so many stars, hearts and lovely comments regarding my Tiny Tuesday blip and yesterday's hoverfly washing his hands.  It is so greatly appreciated.
