45 year wait!

When I was first moth trapping over 40 years ago I remember this beautiful moth the Alder kitten Furcula bicuspis, was the pride and joy of my pinned collection, in my opinion the best moth I ever caught and not one I actually expected to catch again.
This morning I opened my moth trap and there it was! a second Alder kitten, only 45 years after the first!
Listed as local it flies in a single generation from May to July and can be found in woodland habitats, feeding on Birch as well as Alder (another reason not to cut down my lovely tree).
Luckily this one won't be killed and pinned, now he's had his photograph taken he will be back on the tiles as soon as it gets dark.
