Captain America

It is Memorial Day weekend here in the U.S., the official start of summer, and a time to remember and honor all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the country.  In Arlington Cemetery, every grave has a flag placed on it.  300,000 + motorcycles have arrived in D.C. for the 30th RollingThunder event to honor POW’s and MIA’s. The National Symphony Orchestra had a concert on Capitol grounds this evening and the Kennedy Center is celebrating the 100th birthday of JFK with an open house and performances. There will be a parade tomorrow in DC and in hometowns all across the country.   We have attended these kinds of holiday events in DC over the years, but this year we decided to stay close to home because of the intermittent rain, and instead went to a nearby town for their “Hometown Holidays” event. Alsacienne has described this event perfectly in her blip for yesterday and today.

We came across this solitary fellow in his patriotic garb wandering through the events and he was more than happy to have me take his picture.
