Mechanical failure

It was the difference between being frozen and being warm. Firewood, when chopped needs (ideally 3) years to season, under cover, before being ready to burn.

The team assemble at the pile of logs. Ivan, Angus, Owen and me. Kyle, who's bringing the processor, is arriving late due to a communication failure. We do a trailer load with chainsaws before he arrives and then knock out another two in quick succession, but then hit technical problems. The saw blade isn't cutting properly. There's nothing to be done. We fill up the fourth trailer by hand and pack up, despondent.

The afternoon is a mix of sun and showers, tidying and sound systems. Enchiladas for tea with a delightful bottle of Portuguese red from Lupe Pintos.
