A LOVELY BLIPMEET!

It was great today to be going on another Blipmeet to meet GodsCreation and not only two of her children but her third one too, which was a bonus, although the older one, Bronwen is 18 so not really a child!

Once again, we met at Hungerford Garden Centre and GC treated us to hot chocolate and biscuits or cake and we then chatted - and chatted -and chatted.  All three children joined in the chat and it reminded me so much of when our boys were younger - they were delightful and before we knew it, we realised we had been sitting there for almost two hours!  It’s a good job one of us had a very large hot chocolate, which took a long time to drink - and it wasn't me!

The wonderful thing about being with other people’s children is that you can learn so much - and it was interesting to hear about the books they like to read, the games they enjoy playing, what they had been doing in the holidays and how life at college can be difficult at times.

We all got on so well together and it was sad when we had to take our leave of one another, but we promised to meet up again before too long.  I told them that Coate Water, a beautiful country park is quite near to where we live with the Richard Jefferies Museum next door, so maybe next time they can visit Swindon.

Here are Bronwen and Lynette, with Matthew, clutching a little teddy bear and some feed for his cactus plants at home - GC preferred not to be in the photograph, which is a great shame.  I was very touched that Bronwen said she was pleased to meet me at last and she gave me a beautiful gift she made using pyrography, “the art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated object”, which I shall treasure - see the extra.

Mr. HCB had rung to tell me that there were workmen digging up the road outside our house, as one of our neighbours is without electricity, so it was good to be forewarned before I got home.  It’s just a shame that after waiting many years for the pavements to be replaced, they have now had to be dug up, but hopefully, once the workmen have finished, it will look like new again, although by the look of the claggy clay they have dug out, I don’t think it will all go back in the large hole!  I have put another photograph in as an extra of two of the men plus a digger - they were lovely guys but I wouldn’t want their job in this hot weather - however, I have made sure they were well supplied with drinks.
