Spotted

A beautiful day to head to Bempton Cliffs for the first time. Our hope was to see puffins and we did - just two and both of them on their own but it was still amazing to see them. They really are quirky little characters with this one - who was actually number two -  looking straight at the camera it felt like as I sat a little precariously on a cliff edge. Number one puffin is in an extra and captured from the safety of a viewing platform.

More beautiful than quirky were the gannets - all 25 000 of them. I've never seen one in the flesh before and they really are beautiful in their features and their colouring. I was rubbish at trying to capture them in flight but managed some shots of the largely static ones on their own precarious perches.

Bailey has made friends with birdwatchers all day and with another border terrier called Tilly who has gone to work with her owners in the visitor centre since she was 8 weeks old. A good day all round with 200+ shots, blue sky and sunshine all day long - resulting in overly-pink arms for me - and successful - if limited - puffin spotting.
