The Forum - Rome

We spent the morning of our fourth day in Rome visiting the Forum. Naturally we had been before on our previous visit to the city, but it is such a great site it is well worth a another look.

In the afternoon we spent some time exploring the Capitoline Hill from where there are some great views looking down onto the Forum, and it is one of these views that I have chosen for my blip today. I like this shot because it shows three of my favourite features of the forum.

The arch in the top centre of the image is the Arch of Titus. It was constructed in 82 AD by Domitian shortly after the death of his brother Titus.

The three large columns on the right are the remains of the Temple of Castor and Pollux, one of the oldest structures in the Forum, dating from 495 BC.

The three smaller columns at the bottom left are the Temple of Vesta beside the House of the Vestal Virgins.
