she's apples...

...and so it should after 20 years in the breeding here in WA 'Bravo' is on the shelves and not priced by the kilo but individually at $2.50 an apple!
Our weekend go to fruit and veg lady M had a box of these fresh picked, plum red beauties delivered from one of only two local growers..something to do with patents and particular growers.
Launched in May of this year they were described by a local chef as with a 'sweetness and fresh aroma that she likens to the earthy smell of rain on dry earth. The apple also has hints of woody, Christmas spice and red wine flavours.'
M described them as 'deep red as a Snow White apple but without the poison'....love it.

A long way from the tiny little crab-apple from which the modern apple was cultivated.
(And 'she's apples' is Aus slang for all is well, all is fine and originally rhyming slang apple and spice for 'nice')
