Phoenix canals

The Hohokam Indians first built the canal systems in Phoenix about 1,300 years ago.  I believe they originally came from Mexico.  They were the only north American culture to rely on a canal system and it was quite extensive.  They picked up and moved about 500 years ago I think mainly because everything dried up.  The European settlers came along and redeveloped these canals.

I have a fat tire bike that allows me to ride along the canals which I haven't done in a while.  I was out on my road bike this morning lollygagging along, unlike my ride yesterday where I attacked my ride.  But I enjoyed taking my time this morning.

See extra of dried cactus that has it's very last hint of color.
