Morning 3:42am

Lumme, it was late when I finally turned in - and the sky was growing light in the east. Must get a grip. So, Saturday morning - back to routines, Saturday papers, floury baps. And the daughter popped in to chat and we sat out - and later the son put in an appearance after visiting the Meadows Festival - and before returning to the Meadows Festival.
There followed a trip to the Hidden Door to nose about the visual art; it says much about me that I did however enjoy the singer guy in the Speak Easy. Much later I decided that this Champions League final had to be taken in - Real Madrid v Juventus. And Juventus looked like they could do it at half time (1-1) - but the wheels came off and RM ran out 4-1 winners, deservedly. Bah.
And then later, news of another terrorist attack, this time at Borough Market. There was a piece I read in LA about the Manchester bombing - basically saying that people, in searching to understand the motive, tend to blame the very thing to which they are diametrically opposed. Thus leftists will be prone to say the cause is anti-Western sentiment, rightists will say it is in the theology of Islam itself, and sociologists will finger alienation, racism, islamophobia etc etc. Well at the risk of sounding flippant when I’m serious, the cause in MrP’s book isn’t that the perpetrators are male (though they all are), or that they all have names beginning in A, or wear fuzzy beards, it’s that they all adhere to a religion which bans having a bloody pint of beer with their fellow man. Sitting and being civil and getting a bit of a perspective. Everyone else on the planet, from the tip of Argentina to the top of Manchuria enjoys a beer. Go figure.
