The Beauty Lies in the Detail

As plants come up after the long winter some of the larger ones are particularly lovely and full of detail when they are small.  This is such a plant, Bronze Rodgersia, that we got from a friend and planted last autumn, so this is the first time it has come up in this part of our garden.
Earlier we had a 2 meter high, fine looking plant growing just here but after a couple of years we thought we'd better identify it. It turned out to be Japanese Knot Weed, notorious for spreading and causing damage. We dug it up very carefully, lifting every bit of root we could find. It was a great relief when it didn't appear the next year, and now, another year later, we feel safe.
We made really sure this Bronze Rodgersia was a "safe" plant before we put in!
PS This is actually yesterday's blip. Today's will be appearing shortly...
