Nina (on the left) defended her thesis today. On the other side of the table is Eva Silfver who did an excellent job of presenting Nina's research and asking her questions about her work.
I have been to several of these presentations/defences and it is always a little nerve-wracking, even though it is almost a foregone conclusion that the thesis will be accepted when it gets to this stage! Nina is now Dr Nina.
HarlingDarling had done language checks and some translation work on Nina's articles and her final thesis, which is why we were invited and she has blipped her artwork of the event.
I also took the opportunity to drop by my old department, say hello to some of my previous work mates and hand in my keys, and the last bits and pieces of equipment I still had. Now I really have stopped work!!!
I'm ready to enjoy the summer, if it ever gets here. (It's about 1 in the morning just now and the temperature is 3°C, in June!)
