Marjorie's ramblings

Summer draws to a close

Today was dominated by catching up. Carla needed to visit the vet's due to an attack of harvest mites, rather late in the season. She managed to hide so well that I nearly had to cancel the appointment.

Back at home I've been on the computer most of the day, paying bills, editing a few photos, opening letters. Where has the day gone? (I can see parts of the desk now so that must be progress.)

It was time to check the changes in the garden since my departure. It's been another very wild windy day and the herbaceous border is the worse for it. There are lots of collapsed plants. It was too windy for any photography at slow shutter speeds. This shot sums is up - flowers hanging on and a few insects searching for the last of the nectar.

It's much chillier too. Off to the Cheviots for a burst of landscape inspiration tomorrow.

Two festival walks are full now and others are filling rapidly. That's always exciting to see.
