Donkeys in the Desert

Had an interesting day today!

First appointment didn't quite go as planned but time utilised to do a job we'd been wanting to do for a few months i.e. tidy up a cupboard!

Then headed out to "the hole in the wall" Barracuda Resort in Northern Emirate - Umm Al Quwain to get some pink champagne sparkling wine for the pink limo ride I am organising at the end of September! It's a 200km odd round trip and I wanted to do it before I left the country as time may be very tight when I get back. These donkeys were spotted by eagle-eye G on one of the connecting roads in the middle of nowhere. They seem to roam wild in the desert though I am sure they belong to someone as they look well fed and watered and there's even some young ones in the herd. I love donkeys.

For those who are less familiar with this part of the world, the purchase of alcohol is tightly controlled and in most Emirates you not only need a licence to buy it, but you also need a licence to drink it! (You would only know about the need for a licence to consume alcohol if you got caught under the influence). One place in particular in said Emirate sell it freely! No licence required to purchase and because of the mega international nature of this place, you can get just about ANYTHING, so people from different countries are able to get their local favourites. You then have to make sure you drive through the next two Emirates (Ajman & Sharjah) and get back into Dubai without an incident! Simple yes?

Good to be back home safe. Discovered living on the first floor isn't quite as simple as parking your car in front of the building and making several quick trips to unload the shopping!

I am now going to put together a compilation CD of suitable music to play for the limo ride. NICE! One of my fav things to do.
