Above And Beyond...

Move - NOW!

After yesterdays very early morning rise to get a sunrise photo, and a 3 hour drive to Afrata near the west of Crete, I was pretty tired and slept very well in our new accommodation. It's a large house, with five apartments owned by a British couple who have been here since 2004. That was the year we discovered this small village with beach cove that is idyllic.

Our bathroom window opens out to an air-conditiong unit where some house sparrows have built a nest behind it. They were fascinating to watch and I spent a while taking photo's of them coming and going. The one I like best is where they come back at the same time and landing space is at a premium!

Late morning we drove down to Afrata beach and were there until after 5pm, enjoying the Cretan Bank Holiday Monday, and a leisurely lunch. Sunbeds & Umbrella, a greek salad, iced coffee and bottle of lemonade, plus a large basket of fresh bread totalled £9. All were top quality. Not much has changed since we first used the beach.
