Buddhist Ceremony

I had the privilege of attending a very special Buddhist ceremony - here on land that belongs to our friend Mary Jane (seen in the extra with the little blue Buddha).   She has been a nun for about 20 years, follows the linage of the Karmapa - too much information to try and put forth here!   suffice to say he's a seen as the next world Spiritual leader when the Dali Lama leaves us!  He's young, only 32 years old, and is the 17th Karmapa from Tibet.    A few years ago Mary jane decided to donate this piece of land here, on Cape Breton Island, and just across the road from the road leading to our place, to the Karmapa.  the idea being that it could be used as a retreat centre.  This was the long awaited day of ceremony that she has been working so hard to pull together for the past few months.

Altho i don't adhere to any special Buddhist deity or such, i have great respect for the path she is on.   I'm more of the 'dip in here....dip in there' type of follower!

extras:   Part of the ceremony is that the Kenpo (who was conducting the ceremony) offers thanks to certain people who have contributed in a meaningful to this occasion.   Here we see Todd, Terry, Richard and Maryjane being given these beautiful white silk scarves and some were given beads etc.
