Spirit of Rydal

Thursday 8th June 2017 (1748)

Another wet day but it was supposed to clear up in the afternoon. Five of us went to Rydal. It was raining hard when we arrived so we tried the tea shop. It was still raining hard and although our destination was the cave we thought we'd get too wet getting there so went in the woods instead. Before long we were soaked so we did the walk straight up to the cave so we could have lunch in the dry.

We had the cave to ourselves and spent two hours there, I could have spent all day. I got carried away with seeing faces in the reflections, hence this one, which I've turned through 90 degrees. I've put a short video together called "the spirits of Rydal cave". It was better than seeing things in clouds! I also took rather a lot of photos trying to catch waterdrops and, in rather a long sequence, managed to get a couple I really liked - see extra.

The rain had stopped when we left the cave so we were able to do some landscapes on the way back down.

The evening was free so six of us went into Keswick for an Indian meal and then met up with the others back at base and did our own showing of photographs from the day.

Another great day, despite the weather, and a great evening too. There has been a lot of laughter this week.
