Hard at work

Bee societies rely on the many female workers to gather pollen and nectar. This red-tailed bumblebee was very busy among the Perennial Cornflowers late this afternoon, after Chris and I returned from our last stint at Portholme, when we were rained on, despite the forecast promising a dry day.

When Ben arrived home from college we all went along to the polling station which was packed, something I don't ever remember seeing before. It was also good to see plenty of young people out voting.  I hope this all bodes well for a result that will support the very important workers in our society, especially those that have been ground down by years of austerity, whether they're female or male, and the young, whose life chances have been weakened by a whole host of short-sighted policies.
