Bicycle Race

The Women's Tour of Britain swept through  our village today - quite a sight!  The primary school children all came out to watch - they possibly enjoyed the police bikes more than the race.  Lots of flashing blue lights, sirens, horns and winding up the crowd :-)

The main image is the two leaders who have ridden away from the bunch and are trying to get enough of a lead to stay out there to the finish line.  In the extras, the three in the chasing group who were about ~20 seconds behind them, the peloton, another 40 or 50 seconds back and the peloton heading up to the church in the middle of the village.

It was good to see the leaders blowing a little as they rode up Bridge St into the village - I usually stand up there, but I only have 700 metres to go before home, so it's not a problem being out of breath.  They went through the village and up Edge Hill before finishing the stage in Leamington this afternoon.

More info on the race here and the stage highlights are on ITV4 late tonight.

As for today's other event ... omnishambles seems an appropriate description!
