Koala in the wild.

After a fab breakie of bacon, eggs, hash browns, mushrooms sitting on the terrace, watching the boating and ferries coming and going, we headed over the hill to walk to the Forts which date back to World War 2. One and half hour return walk and the idea was to do this before the heat got too intense. Of course the forts were at the highest point on the island but certainly worth the effort. View were amazing of the bush out to the azure coloured ocean merging into the equally blue skys.

A bonus, if you are lucky, on the track is the opportunity to spot a koala. Well, lady luck was on our side as we saw two on our way up. Both sleeping (as the do) and well up in the fork of the tree branches. We continued onto the forts - we could see all around the island and over to Townsville too. Amazing.

On the return walk this little koala was much lower and more easier to photograph....I did have to get off the track just a little and was very cconscience of snakes....somebody had warned us of a big python that was sunning himself on a side track...eck!!!

After all the exertion and excitement we drove over to Horseshoe Bay and straight to the Marlin Bar for a couple of schooner to replenish and revive. It did the trick. Great atmosphere so stayed on for a lovely lunch whilst being cooled by the overhead fans. This beach is very popular with water sports and much busier than where we are staying at Nelly Bay.

We got back hot and sticky, and found a much cooler swiming pool on top of the apartment block which cooled the body temperature down nicely.

Tonight we are off out to an open air Theatre Restaurant for a bit of fun, the theme is Broadway....we have been warned not to sit anywhere near the front!!

Thank you all for all those hearts, stars and comments on my lovely sunset last night.....I was stoked and thrilled.....nice people you lot :)
