For Every Man (and Woman)

The new cinema in Stratford's Bell Court, Everyman, opened today. I only found out as I cut through to meet Ann at the Swan and saw activity by the entrance. We popped in on the way back from coffee for a look round. There are four screens, this one being the smallest I believe holding about sixty people. We also look round a larger screen, also furnished with comfy armchairs and sofas, but in lush red instead of this contemporary look. As well as the screens there is a roomy, comfortable bar lounge serving beer, wine and food, all of which can be taken into the film if wanted. There is also a balcony for watching the world go by whilst sipping your prosecco.

We went in wanting to find fault for replacing the Picture House, but came out admitting that it looked quite enticing.

In other news: In contrast to the last two elections (US and UK) and EU referendum I woke this morning after a very late night feeling a little more optimistic. Not the result I would have liked but as a hung parliament, it isn't the landslide expected, and there's hope for the next election.
