Playground View

This evening Cathleen and I were at the Toward School BBW which is an annual event.   Cathleen has been Head Teacher here since 2001 and joint head with Innellan for the past couple of years.

She is retiring this summer so this will be last of these events with her in charge and I thought it was worth recording the spectacular view from the playground which takes in - from left to right - Cumbrae, Bute and Arran.

My two extra photographs are contrasts.  The first is the moment at 5.00am when the candidates for Argyll & Bute went into the usual "huddle" with the Returning Officer to be shown the result before it was announced. This grouping is always subject to enormous scrutiny by every political party member and every journalist in the hall in order to try and work out what the  final result will be.

Within a few minutes, however , we had all discovered that Brendan O"Hara the SNP candidate had seen off a strong challenge by the Tories and had been re-delected to serve the constituency.   It was a tense evening particularly considering what was happening elsewhere but the strength of the SNP support in Argyll & Bute was clear at the beginning and became clearer as the night wore on.

The second extra picture is of two special guests at the BBQ - and very welcome they were too amongst the various activities for the children , some good music and some excellent food.   A good way to end a long day.
