Erfurt Dom & St Severin's

If you're going to build a catholic cathedral you might as well build it a few yards away from a catholic church! I shouldn't have been surprised though, I've been to Passau.
We've worn a fair bit of trainer tread away today, hoofing it around town and seeing as much as we could while the sun shone. The old town is pretty interesting and there seems to have been a lot of great restoration done. Erfurt looks to be another ex-East German town which avoided the 60's and 70's modernisation mania so still had terrific, if run down, buildings to renovate after unification. By way of a bit of culture, we took in an organ and trumpet recital in the Martini church. No martinis during the break but they served an excellent Riesling!

And we took time out earlier to catch up on last night's post-election Newsnight programme (S's VPN setup is working a treat) and marvelling at the result. Thought I'd seen everything but really? The Rev Ian P must be dancing in his grave.
