On The Golden Road

Before leaving The Isle of Harris we went for a drive along The Golden Road which gives a good taste of the geology of the area. This rocky landscape was used in the film 2001 A Space Odyssey, a good choice of location as you can see. Apparently it was named The Golden Road as it cost so much to build.

We had a smooth ferry crossing to The Isle of Skye but it started to rain heavily as we got there. The extra photo is of the famous view of The Cuillins (swathed in mist) taken from Sligachan.
