Dragonfly nymph exoskeleton

Proof that we have dragonfly larvae in our pond, and that one, at least, has reached maturity.  I didn't, unfortunately, see which dragonfly emerged from this.  And a photo would have been even wilder!

We had a broad bodied chaser and a four-spotted chaser vying for one particular twig for most of the middle of the day.  In extras is the four-spotted chaser in control.

I also cannot resist adding an extra of the third variety of iris we have around our pond - a lovely rich purple
