Creeping Thistle

Not the most difficult task but the heat was energy sapping. Creeping Thistle is listed as an injurious weed in the 1959 Weeds Act. Landowners have a responsibility to control it and prevent it spreading onto neighbouring land. They can be fined £5000 if they don't.  Unchecked this thistle will creep between 6 &12 m a year.    We were using ragwort forks to pull it out with its root. Cutting it at ground level just encourages it to fork and grow again even more vigorously. Weed killer can't be  used because sheep graze in the field. Pity they don't eat it.
My entry for Wild Wednesday because the thistle is running wild and needs to be tamed.
