Ring a Bell?

It is seldom one sees these old bells still attached to the wall of flats and houses, far less the sort of door latch that needs an old fashioned flat key to lift the latch inside, if not gifted with a long, slender but strong finger.
The new entry systems on tenements are not a patch on these rows of bells with decades of history behind them.

I found them in a quaint, quiet street on my way to have a coffee with David and Luca.
There were flower tubs lining the pavement outside the houses with no front gardens, giving colour and atmosphere to the street.
It is hard to believe that just yards away is a busy inner city road and bustling neighbourhood,so peaceful and pretty is this little backwater.
