Sweet pea

Lathryus odorata matucana, just starting to flower. Apparently, this form originates from breeding in the 1920s, rather than being much older, as is often supposed, and as I believed until I looked it up earlier today. I'm hoping they'll do well this year, if we look after them. In previous years we've left them to fend for themselves and they tend to run out of steam later in the summer. It's quite a job keeping the developing seed pods picked off. If you leave any on they decide their job is done and stop flowering.
