Flower Friday

Featuring British Columbia's provincial flower today!  This floral emblem is called the Pacific Dogwood (Cornus nittallii) and this small tree or shrub can grow up to 15 metres/49 feet tall.  The hubster planted one for me in our yard several years ago, but after the first year it hasn't bloomed again.  (Insert sad face here.)  Even though the tree will thrive in partial shade it isn't liking where we've planted it, so may need to find a sunnier spot.  I really like the showy delicate flowers that bloom in Spring and sometimes again in late summer.  In the Fall the leaves turn a beautiful yellow or red.

This flower was blipped from a neighbours tree down the road.  So glad that I've enjoyed seeing these beautiful flowers whenever I drive or walk by.
