A rather sombre day. The extent of the Grenfell Tower disaster continues to unfold, with some truly heart-wrenching stories of people who were trapped phoning their loved ones to say goodbye. This appalling incident illustrates so much of what has gone wrong in Britain - the rampant inequality, the reduction of regulations and the cost-cutting imposed on local authorities by the Conservatives. Just dreadful.

Not such a good day for us personally either. After a decent run of exams, Ben struggled with today's physics paper. I shall just be glad when his A levels are all over - just two more weeks to get through...
