Day1-Stromness Harbour

Well we made it up to Orkney at minimal cost to the purse but maximum attrition to the relationship. His Lordship is a man who initially reacts adversely to an increase in latitude and a change in routine, especially if it involves sitting in a bus for 8 hours. It will pass.

Our accommodation for the first week is in a renovated building that was a ruin the first time we came to Stromness 5 years ago but is now very comfortable but with no view of the sea. This we will get next week when we move to our habitual Stromness residence. It makes all the difference be able to log in and log out the Hamnavoe ferry every day!

I made my newly arrived round of the policies early this morning and found everything to be in order.
The harbour was quiet and our ferry of yesterday evening still in its berth, with a long line of vehicles waiting to board. I never cease to be amazed when I see several huge juggernauts going on board. Science is wonderful is it not?
