Wound up in Wexford

A garden pond ............

........... or a small lake.

My goodness it was hot today.

But we did manage to drag ourselves out to visit a couple of the open gardens in Stoke Holy Cross.  This one is on the road we take when fetching fish and chips from the chippie in Stoke.  The houses you can see in the background of the extra are on the opposite side of the road and the bridge is readily visible from the road, so I've always been curious to see the garden in more detail.

They have a huge pond (or small lake), which covers probably 50% of the area of the garden.  Loads of damsel flies and several dragonflies.  Fish.  Baby frogs and toads.  Several water features.  And they've been there for 30+ years, so all very mature.  I'm glad we got a chance of a nosy.  In fact, when I came to put this onto the map, I discovered that the pond is SO large it actually is on the map!

We also visited the Stoke Holy Cross allotments, so W could have a nosy at all the veg growers results.  Unfortunately, it was SO hot that all the holders were hiding, and there was no-one there to chat to.

We then retired back home, and have spent most of the day inside reading, because it was cooler than outside.  We did have our dinner (salad) outside, once it started to cool down a bit.
