A Walk after the Rain

Today was bridge day. It was at my brother Steve's house this month. I tootled on over early so that the rest of the folks could finish early in time to spend time with family for Father's Day. To our surprise Steve and I tied for second place. We were playing quite an uneven game. I guess our flashes of light outweighed our blunders.

After bridge I went home and Steve did some business until it was closer to dinner. By now I bet you can guess what we did next... yep. You got it. We played Carcassonne. Then we decided to take a walk up into Big Rock Park. It had been misting all day so everything was covered in tiny drops. So beautiful. And not too wet as the rain had stopped. We both took lots of photos of the beautiful jewel-like drops on leaves and plants.

At the end of the walk Steve saw something big fly by. I remembered that somebody had told me there were Barred Owls up Big Rock Park so we thought maybe Steve had seen an owl. Then I heard the tell-tale sound of a young owl calling its parents to ask for a hand out. The noise was coming from above us in two trees. And when we looked up we saw two young Barred Owls looking down at us with curiosity. We took photos but they didn't turn out great as the woods were dark and it was late on an overcast day. I was totally psyched to see the pair of them.

You can see more photos from our walk on Chaikins of Bellingham.

Note: check tomorrow's blip for photos of the owls.

Steve and I had dinner and a couple more games before he headed home. It was a great day. Happy Father's Day to all you dads, granddads, uncles, brothers, and guys that enjoy the company of kids. Thanks for all you do.
