Armed Forces Week

Our little choir had been asked to sing at the ceremony which took place at the front of the Civic Centre this morning. It is Armed Forces week, today is the beginning. There is a March from Monton to Winton in Salford on Saturday.

A piper playing his pipes, speeches, a bugle player, and the raising of the flag in remembrance of those who gave their lives and their families.

We sang "I Vow to thee my Country" and "Something inside so Strong".

There then followed a one minute silence for those who perished in the Grenfell Tower inferno, and those who were attacked at the end of yesterday's Ramadan fast in London. This is the third one minute silence I have attended in a month. Not good, although important to do it.

We should have finished with "Jesusalem". But it didn't feel right, so we didn't.

The blip was taken as people were thinking about getting ready for the event.
