Day 5 -Look Who is in Town!

Nothing beats Orkney when it is a bonny day and today was that day. The sky was blue, the lochs were blue and the wind blew gently and caressingly.

Our borrowed four wheels took us to Orphir first thing and the church coffee morning there. We sampled some superb home baking and had the chance to hear the low down on IainatCreel and the current Mrs Creel without them being there to defend themselves.

No sooner had we returned to base than it was time to lunch with the lapsed blippers JoppaStrand and Tiggy at our much loved café by the harbour. Despite the background noise from one vociferous attention seeking toddler, we managed against all the odds to exchange about 6 months worth of news. It was very enjoyable to meet up with them again especially as it was so unexpected.

With the weather being so good, after lunch while JoppaStrand and Tiggy left for a tour of the west coast of the mainland, HL and I took our papers up to the Ness to sit overlooking Hamnavoe watching the ferries and trawlers coming and going.

My extra is a view of the Hoy hills with the early clouds still hanging over them, taken as we made our way to Orphir.
