Moses Jones Manor, Carriage House, Blowing Rock

Today we headed out to Blowing Rock, NC, trying to beat the rain (80% possibility).  We headed for Moses Jones Manor on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  The estate has 3,600 acres of beautiful rolling fields in the mountains.  The Manor House was beautiful, with 36 rooms and very well maintained by the Park Service.
We decided to hike some of the hills ( no rain yet) by heading past the carriage house.   This horse lover just couldn't walk by a horse structure without further investigation.   I peaked in a window (Top L), peering through the dirt and dark to faintly see the red rim of a carriage.  Looking harder, I saw some other shadows, so I held up the camera, changed my settings a little, crossed my fingers and took a picture.  No shiny window, spider web, dark room, dirty window will stop me from seeing something horse related!

Then, I walked around the side of the carriage house, strolled through the horse stabling area, and enjoyed the ambiance of yester year. (Top Rt)

Natured called, I went back upstairs to use the bathroom, and found the most amazing old door knob where the Horse manager, apparently, had a small office, room area.  The knob was shiny from use, the keyhole was scratched and used from days past.   (Bot L)

After walking all 4 sides, we strolled down the carriage lanes and went under the Parkway through a tall culvert out to many beautiful fields, woods, fencing, trees, views and just about any other adjective you could apply.  We walked for maybe, a mile to the high balds, which were large hay fields.  One of the paths turned up to a cemetery where some of the Cone family is buried.
