Lairig Leacach Bothy

The Lairig Leacach is a pass through the mountains to the south of Roy Bridge. It follows the valley through which the Leacach flows to the north and the Lairig to the south. Just south of the high water shed is the Lairig Leacach Bothy. You can just see it here on the left of this shot. The LL pass is a wonderful gateway to many adventures, either low level long distance walks, to Corrour, Rannoch, Glen Nevis, Kinlochleven or to the big mountains which dominate. The two hills pictured are the twin Corbetts Sgurr Innis and Cruach Innis. They don't look that high here because the camera is already close to 500m altitude. To the left west (but out of shot) is the massive eastern shouder of the Grey Corries. To do a full circuit of this range the hill walker must start at this bothy, a good four mile march in on its own, before climbing the graceful but isolated Stob Ban.

On return to the car I spoke to man who had just concluded this very outing. His appetite for such a big day was whetted by the knowledge that ticking off the four Munros would bring his personal total to 200.

I congratulated him on his achievement, today's and the bigger picture. He must be very fit.
