Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

The best laid plans of mice and men ..

A few weeks ago I blipped a photograph of an unusual double headed fritillary flower. I had plans to collect the seed to see if they bred true, producing double headed flowers.

Today was to be seed-sowing day but sadly it was very windy last night and the seeds have all taken flight! Gregor Mendel would not admire my cack-handed attempts!

The extra is my entry for Derelict Sunday. The University of Aberdeen has, much to its shame, allowed a fine house in the village to become derelict. The only good thing to come from this villainy is that the old lawn is rapidly turning into a self-sown wild flower meadow currently dominated by Northern marsh orchids, foxes and cubs and white clover.
