Life in Newburgh on Ythan

All the fun of the harbour

Peterhead harbour keeps drawing me back!

The main photograph is of a small coastal fishing boat, the Bren Jean. She is rigged to fish for mackerel with long lines of mackerel flies. She was being escorted by a large grey seal, ever hopeful of a free meal!

The "extra" is dominated by the Peterhead life boat, The Misses Robertson of Kintail. She is the 10th Lifeboat in the history of Peterhead Lifeboat Station, and was the first Tamar Lifeboat, the latest design of RNLI vessels, to enter service in Scotland. In the distance you can see the enormous dredger that is still hard at work deepening the whole harbour.
