Mono Monday

I have never wanted or sought my '15 minutes of fame', but the only time I ever had my name in the newspaper, apart from marriage and babies' birth announcements, was in 1964 when I won a competition in the paper.

That week's light-hearted topical teaser had been:

'What gave The Beatles 'A Hard Day's Night'*?

I won a prize of my choice of 20 records from the current pop chart with:

'My Fourmost answer would be 'A Little Loving'*.

At the time, as a teenager, I didn't even have a record-player, but saved up my pocket-money for months until I could afford a little Dansette. The above are just a few of the records I won, all of which have become pop classics.

* Of course, those two records were included in the prize.
