A Suffolk Eye

Beetle Days

Yes - its that time again.
Stag beetle time.
And there's one footpath in Woodbridge where you're more or less bound to find a stag any day in June - as long as you keep an eye open.
This one is a mere Lesser Stag Beetle so he doesn't have the glorious horns of his Greater relative, but he's still a thing of beauty and a joy forever.
I discovered today that there is a Polish poem Chrząszcz (Beetle) which is so hard to pronounce that even native speakers have difficuty with it:
W Szczebrzeszynie chrząszcz brzmi w trzcinie
i Szczebrzeszyn z tego słynie,
wół go pyta - panie chrząszczu,
po cóż pan tak brzęczy w gąszczu
